The main issue for Renneisen's campaign is ending the Iraq War. The war spending, over $4000 per second, explains the crumbling US economy, the increasingly worthless dollar, and the increasing unemployment. These economic issues translate into domestic and community violence, which are becoming a daily occurrence in our South Florida communities.

Renneisen is determined to end the "do nothing" attitude of the current Congress by challenging the current Democrat in the August 26th primary. Only registered Democrats are allowed to vote in the August primary. Independent voters are turned away unless they have contacted their supervisor of elections to register to vote as a Democrat.

Renneisen, an airline captain and businessman, has always been a community activist. He has the experience and job skills (problem solving and personal communication) to be an effective Congressman.

"I was able to help bring traffic-calming devices to Fort Lauderdale through concensus building," said Renneisen. "That consensus building is needed now to end the Iraq War."

The people of South Florida deserve a leader who will bring a lifetime of honesty, common sense and compassion to the task of representing them in Congress. When they vote for Paul Renneisen, that is the leader they will get.

"I want to put a stop to the do-nothing attitude of this Congress, which has allowed the policies of the Bush administration to continue," said Renneisen. "When we stop the war, we also must stop foreclosures, create jobs, protect pensions, and bring indictments against those administration officials responsible for violating Federal laws."

"That's why I ask for your assistance as a volunteer, donor, and voter as I begin my campaign to serve as the next Congressman from Florida's 22nd District. Please join me as we elect myself and other veterans for peace to Congress this fall. For more information or to help out, please visit www.renneisen2008.com or write to info@renneisen2008.com."

Palm Beach Post Highlights Renneisen Campaign

Ft. Lauderdale, Florida — Paul F. Renneisen's decision to run as a Democrat in the 22nd District Congressional race was the subject of an article by George Bennett in today's Palm Beach Post. Here are several excerpted paragraphs:

Renneisen says Klein hasn't lived up to his 2006 campaign promise to be a "congressman who leads, not follows." While Klein has voted with most House Democrats to impose a timeline for withdrawing troops from Iraq, Renneisen says District 22 voters expected more.

"He promised upon election not just to sit in the House but to lead an effort to end the war," Renneisen says. "This pulled him over the top ... to win the election. That's how upset people were with the war in 2006."

Renneisen, who served in the Air Force from 1978 to 1984, says Congress should cut off appropriations for the war. That would force military leaders to manage the "disengagement" of troops, Renneisen says. He opposes having Congress set a withdrawal timetable because he says that would be "giving away your tactics."

"To do this, we need a Congressman who understands war, but promotes peace. We need a business executive with an accountant's mind, an electric car driver's vision, and a baseball coach's heart.

"As an Air Force pilot myself and the son, husband, and brother of military veterans, I never thought I would be launching a campaign as a peace candidate. Yet when I look in the eyes of my four children, I know that I will never be able to live with myself if I do not do something to protect their future.

We are seeing the devastating impact of foreclosures on Bayview Drive and all across our District. With my Victory Tax Cut plan, we can stop wasting money in Iraq and start spending it on programs to protect our jobs, homes, healthcare and pensions.
