Energy Independence
Some have called me the Electric Car Candidate because of the Electric RAV-4 EV that I drive to campaign events. For me, this car is more than just a statement about my commitment to building an economy that is not dependent on fossil fuels. It also represents my keeping faith with the future that my children will inherit. If we work together and consider innovations such as the electric car, then the dangers posed by global warming can be overcome.
Our country has been run for the past seven years by two oil industry executives. It is no wonder that solar, wind, geothermal and other alternative energy sources have not been developed to their full capacity. When I am your 22nd District Representative, I will fight for legislation that promotes research into alternative energy sources, gives incentives to people making conversions to alternative energy sources, and removes restrictions on business owners who are promoting energy innovation.
If each of us considers how to decrease our dependence on foreign oil, we can create thousands of jobs for people in the conversion of our economy to non-petroleum energy sources, and help our planet at the same time. All we need is visionary, hard-working leadership in the White House and Congress.
