About Paul Renneisen
Paul F. Renneisen, like many of us, never considered politics as a career. A Democrat, he volunteered to coach little league baseball, served at his church, and was elected to lead local community organizations.
In 2006, however, Paul became politically active. He saw no plan to end the Iraq War, so he volunteered to help Democrats take back the House and Senate. As a veteran himself, he understood that when a war is ill-advised and managed ineffectively, our most precious military resources, our troops, could be lost forever. Without a genuine objective for victory, it is not right to leave American service members and Iraqi civilians in harm's way.
Two years later, the war still rages, soldiers continue to be killed and wounded, and our tax dollars continue to be wasted. Paul and many other veterans for peace are challenging incumbents who promised to end the war in 2006 but who have voted for more war spending.
When Paul and other veterans are elected to Congress this November, they will be strong enough to stand up to any president who says that more soldiers' lives and more of our tax dollars should be spent in Iraq.
Leadership Qualities
Two stories help explain Paul's approach to leadership and service. First, while driving through his neighborhood, he saw a woman fall off her bicycle while trying to help her granddaughter rush across the street at a busy stop sign intersection. When other cars kept rushing by, Paul stopped, blocked the intersection, and helped bring the bikes and riders to safety.
As Paul thought about this incident, he asked himself why action had not been taken to calm traffic at residential intersections. After several years of research, community organizing, and consensus-building, he succeeded with the community in securing support from the City of Ft. Lauderdale for speed tables on many of our community streets.
Later, when noise pollution caused by airplanes became a nuisance in our district, City Commissioners looked for someone who understood airline issues, accounting issues, and the need to balance the many competing interests concerned about this issue. They voted to appoint Paul to the Fort Lauderdale Aviation Advisory Board, where his attention to detail has been credited with helping to reduce aircraft activity, improve traffic safety, and decrease aircraft noise over greater Fort Lauderdale communities during weekends and holidays.

Family Life

Paul's wife Patricia is a Registered Nurse and Air Force veteran. She has worked in both private and Veterans Administration hospitals.
She serves as Vice-Commander of the Broward 9th District of the American Legion, and volunteers her nursing expertise to assist veterans at American Legion Post 142 in Pompano Beach.
Paul and Patricia have four children, and have stayed busy supporting their school, church and sports activities over the years.

Professional Life
After earning a degree in accounting, Paul joined the Air Force and served as a pilot and pilot trainer in the United States and Europe. After an honorable discharge, he prepared for and passed all four parts of the CPA examination, earning a certificate of accountancy. Before he could start a career as an accountant, however, American Airlines offered him a position as a commercial airline pilot.
While continuing his career in civilian aviation, Paul used his accounting skills to organize a Federal Credit Union and establish small businesses in Broward County. The Credit Union National Association awarded Paul its Founder Award for his efforts, which resulted in more jobs, improved credit services, and better retirement planning in our community.

Service to the 22nd District
People recognize leadership ability when they meet Paul Renneisen. He has served as president of his homeowner's association, Commander of his American Legion post, Commodore of his boat club, and director of a bank. City Commissioners appointed him to the Fort Lauderdale Aviation Advisory Board, and members of his Federal Credit Union voted him its Director.

Behind the scenes, Paul has volunteered at the Miami V.A. Medical Center and provided volunteer income tax assistance for Tax Counseling for the Elderly.
By voting for Paul Renneisen in the Democratic Primary on August 26, we will get a seasoned leader who cares about the people of the 22nd District and is ready to address their needs in Congress.
